EMERGENCY UPDATE AS OF 4/2/2020
South Lyon Area Recreation Authority (SLARA) wants to assure everyone that we are staying up to date on the information being released about the recent COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak.
Starting March 24, the SLARA office will be closed for the 3 week mandatory "Stay at Home" executive order issued by Governor Whitmer . We will not have staff in office to answer phone calls, so please email, message us on Facebook or fill out the "Contact Us" form with any questions.
SLARA is pushing back the release of the 2020 Spring/Summer Brochure and registration.
The State of Michigan recently announced that schools will be shut down for the rest of the 2019-2020 school year. This means that no SLARA programs will be able to be held during that time. As you can imagine, this greatly impacts SLARA programming. We are doing our best to keep everyone up to date with any changes this may cause. We ask that you please be patient and understanding during this very fluid situation.
At this time SLARA WILL NOT be holding any programs until AT LEAST June 14, 2020. This includes programming at remote locations. Our offices will remain closed to the public until the State of Michigan lifts it’s Social Distancing and Stay Home/Stay Safe Orders. As more information becomes available, we will update you.
At this time, we are hoping by June 15th we will be able to resume regular summer programming if all the restrictions are lifted. If that happens, the Spring/Summer 2020 Brochure would be placed online by May 18th and registration would open June 1st. At this point, we have made the decision not to mail the Spring/Summer brochure due to time constraints and last-minute updates that may be needed. Again, the Spring/Summer 2020 Brochure will ONLY BE AVAILABLE ONLINE, it will not be direct mailed to households.
To stay up to date on SLARA program cancellations/delays and registration please follow us on our social media sites including Facebook, Instagram and our website, www.slrec.net. Please, be safe and stay home during these difficult times and know that our staff are thinking of you all!
Brighter days are ahead!
