Notice to Participants
All participants are subject to the South Lyon Area Recreation Authority Code of Conduct. If you wish to review the Code of Conduct, please read the pdf to the right.
SLARA programs are offered to all persons without regard to race, color, sex, national origin, age, creed or ability. SLARA encourages the participation of individuals with disabilities. In compliance with the Americans With Disabilities Act of 1990, we will make reasonable efforts to accommodate participants with disabilities for our programs. For assistance, call 248-437-8105 at least seven days prior to the program or event. All athletic and recreational activities involve some risk of accident or injury. SLARA does not provide insurance nor does it assume responsibility for accidents or injuries.
Participation in this program and the use of equipment is at your own risk.
Please be sure to let us know if you and/or your child have any food allergies or restrictions. We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate participants with food allergies. you may be asked to provide your own food snack.
Background Check Policy
All staff/volunteers are required to pass background checks before employment or participation in any SLARA programs.
Resident Discount Fees
Anyone who resides in the participating member municipalities; the City of South Lyon, Lyon Township or Green Oak will receive a 25% discount for program fees.
Early Bird Registration Deadlines
With the exception of Youth Sports Leagues, many programs may have an Early Bird Registration Deadline. When noted, after the early bird deadline there is a $10 fee added to registration cost per participant.
Photo Release Policy
Enrollment in SLARA sponsored programs authorizes SLARA, its employees and contractors to take your photograph for use in future brochures, flyers, documents, displays, and other publications, website and on social networking websites. SLARA will not sell, use or authorize others to use such photographs for commercial purposes.
Inclement Weather Policy
When South Lyon schools are closed all SLARA programs held at a South Lyon schools will be cancelled. If your class is being held at another facility, please call that facility directly to check the status of your class. The SLARA office will make every attempt to remain open and stay as close to regularly scheduled business hours as possible during snow storms and other weather emergencies. We encourage you to call ahead to determine the operational status of the SLARA office when there appears to be reason for weather related institutional delays and/or closures.
Non-Sufficient Fund Fees
Make all checks payable to South Lyon Area Recreation. A $25 fee will be assessed to all returned checks.
All refund requests except for Youth Sports Leagues are charged a $5 processing fee. Any refunds requested after the first class are charged the cost of the first day plus a $5 processing fee. No refunds will be given after 3:00 pm on the last working day prior to the second scheduled class/activity. There are no refunds for classes that meet only one time, unless the refund request is received two or more working days prior to the day of the class. No refunds will be given for the following: material fees, special events or tickets. Note: There is a non-refundable $4 convenience fee whenever you use Discover/Visa/MC/American Express. However, this fee will be fully refunded if a class is cancelled by the SLARA.
For a refund, please follow these steps:
1) Call the Recreation Office immediately to allow time for someone else to register for the class.
2) All requests must be made before 3:00 pm on the last working day prior to the beginning of the second scheduled class/activity.
Note: For Youth Sports Leagues there is a early bird registration deadline. Any refunds requested prior to the early bird deadline are charged a $5 processing fee. Any refunds requested after the early bird deadline will be subjected to a $15 processing fee. No refunds will be given after the first scheduled practice.
Refunds will be paid in full when classes are cancelled by the SLARA. There is no refund or reduction of fees for classes missed by students. No refunds paid in cash. Refunds take 2-3 weeks to process. Note: There is a non-refundable $4 convenience fee whenever you use Discover/Visa/MC/American Express. However, this fee will be fully refunded if a class is cancelled by the SLARA.
If a class is cancelled due to weather, mechanical failure, or other unexpected problems, an effort will be made to schedule a make-up. If it is not possible to provide a make-up time, no partial refunds will be given.
